The Hand Dealt
48 x 48 x 1-1/3 in . Plaster, resin, real dice, acrylic . 2025
Three aces. Black, red, gold - each one built by hand, dimensional, raised off the surface, worn at the edges the
way cards get worn when they have been in serious play. They lay over each other the way a real hand gets
tossed on a table - casual, confident, already winning.
Two to three hundred real dice cover the left side of the piece. Red and black, tumbling, scattered - as if
someone just rolled and walked away. They are not painted. They are there. You can touch them.
This piece is for the person who understands that you do not always choose your hand. You choose what you
do with it.
There is cigar smoke in this piece somewhere. Good cologne. The quiet confidence of someone who has sat at
enough tables to know that the cards matter less than the player holding them.
Hang this where men gather. Where deals get made. Where nobody needs to explain themselves.
